About the disease

What is prostatitis?

A common condition affecting men of all ages, it is successfully treated when the diagnosis is accurate. Similar symptoms can indicate entirely different types of inflammation—and each type has a different treatment.

Type 1

Acute bacterial infection

It has a sudden onset with fever and severe pain. It requires immediate antibiotic treatment and sometimes close monitoring for several days.

The second type

Chronic bacterial infection

Symptoms recur periodically, with a persistent bacterium detected in tests. Treatment is longer and depends on culture and sensitivity results.

The third type

Chronic pelvic pain

The most common type: pain without a clear infection. It is treated with a combined approach — medication, physical therapy for the pelvic floor muscles, and lifestyle modifications.

Treatment

Our approach to treatment

There is no single treatment that works for all cases. We begin by identifying the type of inflammation, then we develop a plan that combines medication, physical therapy, and follow-up.

Laboratory and imaging diagnosis

Urine analysis and culture, PSA analysis when needed, and ultrasound of the urinary tract with residual urine measurement — to accurately determine the type before any medication.

Targeted drug therapy

An antibiotic chosen according to the culture result, alpha blockers to facilitate urination, and anti-inflammatories to control pain — in doses and duration specified in writing.

Pelvic floor therapy

Relaxation and strengthening exercises under expert supervision are particularly effective in chronic pelvic pain when muscle tension is the source of the pain.

Shock wave therapy

Short, non-surgical sessions to improve blood circulation and relieve chronic pain are suggested when medication alone is not enough.

Lifestyle modification

Practical recommendations regarding nutrition, water intake, movement, and long periods of sitting — factors that make a real difference in symptom frequency.

Monitoring and evaluating results

Specific review appointments with reassessment of symptoms and tests, and adjustment of the plan when needed, instead of continuing with ineffective treatment.

The visit

How does the visit take place?

Four clear stages; you know before you attend what will happen in each one.

1

Booking

Via the form on this website or by phone. We will contact you to confirm the date and time on the same day.

2

Consultation and examination

30 minutes to review symptoms and medical history, followed by a clinical examination in a closed room with complete privacy.

3

Analysis and imaging

Tests and ultrasound scans are performed inside the clinic, with immediate preliminary results and a laboratory report within 48 hours.

4

Treatment plan

A written plan: medications, duration, what to avoid, and the next three follow-up appointments.

Symptoms that are delayed become chronic.

Most of the cases we see that are late-stage would have been resolved within weeks if they had been seen earlier. If symptoms persist for more than a week, book a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the examination painful or embarrassing?+
The examination is brief and takes place in a closed room, with each step explained beforehand. You can stop at any time, and no procedure is carried out without your consent.
How long does the treatment take?+
In acute bacterial pelvic pain, symptoms usually improve within days, and treatment lasts from two to four weeks. Chronic pelvic pain, however, requires six to twelve weeks with regular follow-up.
Does prostatitis affect fertility?+
Persistent inflammation can affect semen quality, but this often returns to normal after treatment. If necessary, we request a semen analysis as part of the evaluation.
Do I need a referral from a general practitioner?+
No. You can book directly. If you have previous tests or reports, bring them with you — they shorten the diagnostic process.
Are my medical information and file confidential?+
Your medical file is kept within the clinic and will not be shared with any third party without your written consent. The booking request is used only to confirm your appointment.
What payment methods are available?+
Cash or bank card payment is accepted at the clinic, with a receipt that can be used with the Compulsory Health Insurance (AMO) or private insurance.
